Sub Pop and Eddie Bauer Team Up to Make an Authentic Grunge Flannel Shirt
Any easily definable clothing accessory connected to underground culture is likely going to get co-opted into something ridiculous. While grunge's flannel shirts have been in and out of malls ever since the release of Hype!, they're having another mockable moment thanks to a new Sub Pop collaboration with American clothing retailer (and former Ford motors collaborator) Eddie Bauer.

The Eddie Bauer x Sub Pop flannel shirt retails for $85 USD and looks, well, an awful lot like a normal flannel shirt. The website promises a classic fit, limited-edition colourways and 2-ply cotton flannel.

The clothing company utilized photoshoots with Shabazz Palaces and Tacocat to hype up the shirt, but they also name check Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden and TAD in the shirt description, meaning you'll have plenty of grunge cred when you pick this puppy up and try it on.

To be fair, while it seems a little funny on the surface, both Eddie Bauer and Sub Pop are age-old Seattle brands.
